Bill Isabell

Bill Isabell was born in 1945 and raised in Grants Pass, Oregon.

After graduating from high school he joined the U.S. Air Force. There, Bill was schooled to work in the Air Weather service. Following his 4 years in the Air Force, one of which was served in Viet Nam, Bill went to college in Colorado on the GI Bill. He received an appointment to the National Weather Service (NWS) at Pendleton, Oregon in 1968. His 32 year career with the Federal
Government ended when he retired in 1997 after 10 years managing the Salem NWS office.

Following he NWS career Bill spent nearly 5 years as Chief Meteorologist on the morning show for Salem’s KBZY Radio. In July 2001, he left KBZY to run for mayor of Salem. Bill returned to KBZY Radio in the same capacity as Chief Meteorologist in June 2004.

In addition to working at KBZY, each day after 9am Bill is a financial advisor for Allstate Financial Services at the Robblee Agency near the radio station. Bill also, writes a monthly column for The Salem Business Journal.

Bill was a founding member of the non-profit Salem World Beat Festival in 1997. He’s a past president and is currently the vice-president of its governing board, the Salem Multi cultural Institute.

Bill is also the president of the non-profit, USA Boxing affiliated, Olympic style boxing organization, the Salem Sugar Company Boxing Club.

Besides non-profit work, Bill hobbies include golf & body building. Bill competed in his early 40's.

Bill has been married to Donna since July 1990. The Isabell’s have a 13 year old daughter, Taylor. Bill is also the proud father of a 33 year old son, Brian who lived in Arlington, Virginia.

Bill can frequently be seen cruising Salem streets in “Lighting”, his beloved white 1980 KBZY Corvette. Honk & wave when you see him.
